It is now Thursday January 11th and we are off to Pie de la Cuesta and Veyma's to spend the day, but what a day it turned out to be! We started the day by going to visit a couple of friend we met at Tripadvisor.com Tao and Natalie as we wanted to see what the hotel looked like. The hotel is nice and spacious with full kitchen and dining area, living room and large bedroom with showers and vanity outside the bathroom. However those are the room at the back of the hotel El Cortijo, but the ones in the front of the hotel as much smaller we were told. The El Cortijo is a smaller hotel but close to a lot of places within walking distance. About three blocks away from Mercado Central or the Mexican Flea Market, a couple of blocks from the beach and Gigante and Papagayo Park.

Now Tao and Nathalie had been going to Pie de la Cuesta and Coyuca 2000 and of course had been going there by bus, something that we had not done before. We got on the bus about three blocks from El Cortijo and about one block from Mercado Central or the Mexican Flea Market. It only took about thirty-five minutes to get there by bus, but I loved the experience completely. First of all I was sitting up nice and high and so I got a great view for taking photographs along the way with the window open and directly behind the driver.

The day we took the bus he was not going fast as there was a lot of traffic on the way down, so we got a real nice ride and most likely got there almost as fast as the taxi. Of course one of my favourite pastimes is watching people and from the bus you can see all kinds of them both on the bus and going about their daily routines. So for 9 pesos round trip the bus was just fine and where else can you get the ride of your life for less than 2 bucks?

Now of you are going to take the bus, just a word of advice, make sure that you take the bus that not only reads “Pie de la Cuesta” but also “Playa Luces” or you will be going to the town of Pie de la Cuesta and not the beach area. Of course if you make the mistake you can always get off the bus where the road splits for the town and the beach and then either get on a local small Bus, well actually a mini van or walk to where you want to go. However if you are going to Tres Marias or Velma's it will be a long walk.

And in my opinion if you are going to take the bus back to Acapulco I would do it while it is still daylight. First of all I'm not to sure I would trust the bus at night and second there have been some reports of people getting robed, so not for me. If I'm going to stay till after the sunset I will take the bus down and then arrange for a taxi to take you back to your hotel or place of lodging. Now I have not taken the Collective Taxis yet, but there are yellow taxis that will take you back to Acapulco, however they are only allowed to take you as far as the Zócalo and then from there take another taxi or bus. By the way if you are taking the bus back to Aca, the bus goes and stops right in front or Sunburns, so an easy place to get unto another bus to taxi.

So will we take the bus again to Pie de la Cuesta, of course we will…

Now if you came this far, have a look at my two favourite places to eat, play and relax at Pie de la Cuesta. They are Vayma's and Tres Marias!
