Welcome to Fred's Photography
Fred's Photography started as a small town hobby business in 1973. Fred Meulemeester, a brick layer by trade, began an exciting new career photographing weddings and families in the Tillsonburg area.
Fred joined the Professional Photographers of Ontario, Professional Photographers of Canada and the Professional Photographers of America in 1976. Training towards becoming a Professional Photographer included such schools as Winona Professional School of Photography, were he has taken both courses in Fine Art Black and White photography and Advanced Portrait Photography. Fred studied under many professionals, such as Barry Rankin Photographic Craftsman, Bill Browne Wedding Photography, and Tibor Horvath Portrait Photography .
Fred won numerous awards from the Professional Photographers of Michigan and Ontario including the prestigious Kodak Gallery Award. Fred was Accredited by the Professional Photographers of Canada with "High Key Children's Portrait" and the "Wedding Story". In 1989, Fred received his Craftsman of Photographic Arts in British Columbia. Although this is not the highest achievement a Professional Photographer can receive, it is the hardest award to attain. In 1990, the following year, Fred was awarded the Masters of Photographic Arts from the Professional Photographers of Canada in Prince Edward Island, the highest achievement a Professional Photographer can receive.
During this time, Fred has photographed 1000's of weddings throughout Ontario. He gained a reputation for high quality portraits, progressing above others in his field. He also gave back to the community by teaching photography at local schools and clubs and has and still helps with the training of many Students.
Fred‘s Photography branched out from our humble beginnings of Weddings and Family Portraits to include Commercial Photography, Model Portraits and Portfolios, School and Graduations photos and Sports photography including Hockey, Figure Skating and Gymnastics. We now enjoy giving a professional style to Dance photography, both completive and recreational.
In 2006 Fred attended the Niagara School of Imaging. Under the tutelage of Brian Lee, he learned Digital Workflow and Production Essentials for the changing photography world. Photoshop and Digital Cameras have paved the way for a new future at Fred‘s Photography.
Gone are the days of film and dark rooms, but Professional Photography is far from over. The arts and high quality portraitures are a thing of beauty. Creativity and Ingenuity pave the way for a small business to add beauty and lasting memories to any décor.
Thanks for 40 Amazing Years!
